DAVE GATHERING ON LAKE ERIE:

Over 20 years ago Dave found a piece of fossilized coral while caring for our boys on the shores of Lake Erie. Since then, he continues to search out these wonderful ancient stones. Dave hand selects only the fossilized corals and sea floor (flint) among the millions of other stones on the beach. He has spent thousands of hours at this task, in all seasons and weather. Dave put all he gathered in our garden and around our trees using the fossils and flint as a dry mulch. Today he continues to gather and assists with the many aspects of the continuing development of Stones of Time.

CHRISTINE BUILDING:

I began creating our PEOPLE OF THE GREAT LAKES ten years after Dave had been gathering. I had read all I could find on ancient people and civilizations. I began building in March of 1992. I had an undeniable pull to build a cave with a person going into it, This was the start of my journey into our Fossil Art. I was drawn back daily to build more. I don’t change any of the stones; I build to show the beauty of the stone in its natural state. I build with the flint for the tactile sensation I receive in the searching. The people are placed to enhance the corals in the base. I am enfolded in peace when down in my workshop, surrounded by the energy and simple beauty of the fossils. Individual characteristics develop as each piece nears completion. Words come and they are given life and my heart is there.

CHRISTINE PRESENTING:

For the past 10 years I have been making presentations related to the stones and other spiritual areas, i.e.: drumming, dance, labyrinths. I have presented in schools (meets curriculum standards in several grades); historical societies; women’s groups/ retreats; and other interest groups. The tactile focus to all of the presentations creates a positive atmosphere to appreciate the fossils.
