DAVE GATHERING ON LAKE ERIE:

Over 20 years ago, Dave found a piece of Fossilized Coral while caring for our boys on the shores of Lake Erie. Since that time, he has searched for these wonderful ancient stones. Dave hand selects only the fossilized corals and sea floor (flint), among the millions of other stones on the beach. Dave has spent thousand of hours at this task in all weather, spring, summer, and fall and sometimes even in the winter. Dave put all he gathered in our garden and around our trees using the fossils and flint as a dry mulch.

CHRISTINE SEARCHING:

I began creating our “shadows of the past.” Ten years after Dave had been bringing the fossils home. I had been reading all I could find on ancient people and civilizations. I was drawn to build a cave with a person going into it, a very strong pull which I could not deny. This was the start of my journey into our Fossil Art. I did create my cave and was drawn back daily to build more and more. This has been an amazing journey for me. I started building in March of 1992: this was three months after the death of my Mother. I am enfolded in peace harmony and tranquility, when down in my workshop surrounded by the energy and simple beauty of the fossils. I create what I love and I love each piece as it develops and becomes animated and lifelike. I am often amazed at the words which come when I sit quietly with the completed work. The words give each one life and my heart is there.
